My First Video Blog! - The Fashion Turd's Verbal Diarrhea Episode #1

I'm 87% sure that I'll look back at this first attempt at video blogging and think "what a cringey old sausage she was". But  I have decide to upload nonetheless and I (vaguely) proudly present my first VLOG, complete with comedy sound effects and 1990's style editing! Enjoy!

The one where The Fashion Turd goes to Spain...

One of the set backs of being in the 'late twenties' age bracket is that all of a sudden everyone around you starts getting married and popping out spawn like there is no tomorrow. In principal this is of course joyous and wonderful etc, but out of nowhere the majority of your mates are suddenly either cuddled up in some saccharine love-nest watching rom-coms or wiping soiled bottoms with Eco-friendly wet wipes (babies bottoms that is, not husbands)

This weekend  I crossed another friend off my 'still single' list and travelled to Spain to see my old pal Christopher Baker making an honest woman of his lovely Spanish birdie Helena. A wedding in the sun is not conducive for my usual obsessive layering of clothes so I opted for my token 'vaguely grown-up event' dress and teamed it with one of the over sized brooches from my own collection. A slightly restrained outfit, but it wouldn't have been kind to upstage the bride eh??!!!  I even left my signature colourful tights at home in favour of bare legs, eeeek! Here I am with my flatmate and comrade Maria Holy Fire:

Dress: Cee Cee
Brooch: House of Turd
Socks: American Aparell
Shoes: Ju Ju Jelly
Headband: Topshop

Here are some other delectable tid-bits from the weekend, I like the mix of 'beauty' and 'ugly' in the area, 'urban vs coastal' , colour mixed with grey....(sorry that sounded a bit pretentious...meh!)
The graffiti 'Puta Carcel' I think translates to  'Prison Whore', which I thought was quite pleasant.
The slobbery dog just had to be photographed!

Normal posting will resume shortly, but in the meantime why not have a browse at my freshly updated Press Page, where you can peruse the list of lovely publications who have been generous enough to feature my weirdo face in recent weeks. I can't thank everyone enough for taking the time out to promote me and my site...Turd Karma will indeed come into play! Also take a look at this cool blog Less is Bore, I met the Blogger at Fashion Week and featured her blue bowl cut in an earlier post..she is Aces!

Kind Regards, The Fashion Turd x

Menswear day at London Fashion Week - bring on the blokes

Well, for someone who hasn't been near a 'pork sword' in years, I thoroughly enjoyed Menswear day at LFW

As well as seeing the amazing 'tribal meets ghetto bling bling meets bondage' collection from KTZ  I thought it was the best day by far for street style. Knitted masks, colours aplenty, gratuitous shell suits, vivid backpacks and lycra leggings were just some of the spectacular things on offer which made me grin like a Cheshire cat on acid!

Take a peek at my pick of the best, me being at the top of the pile of course! hee hee (note to self - don't let being on BBC news for 5 seconds go to your head.)

It restores my faith in creativity and imagination and colour and boldness and most importantly sense of fun in fashion when I see people like this giving it some. I love the fact that you can be a bloke and get away with wearing a lurid purple sea themed tracksuit (albeit in the safe bubble of Somerset house) and not feel the need to go near a pair of beige chinos. I love the fact that women can look incredible in geek glasses and not feel the need to be 'pretty'. I love the fact that girls can dress like boys and boys can dress like girls.

Can you spot fellow bloggers Fashitects and Pandemonia in amongst this lovely lot?

I've also been a lucky ducky and got a fair amount of LFW press of my own, take a look at these very generous write ups if you have a spare five minutes innit?

I hope you have all been enthralled by my coverage of LFW, as sporadic and un-indepth as it has been! I guess if you want catwalk reports and a list of 'what's hot and what's not' then you have come to the wrong place, that's just not my cuppa tea sorry!

See you all soon, jetting of to Spain for a wedding tomorrow, so photos of sangria, chorizo and 'scorchio' weather to follow! (stereotyping entire cultures again, sorry)

Hear me ACTUALLY speak! (see, I don't sound as Welsh as Tom Jones)

Here is me offering some 'oh so profound' words of wisdom at London Fashion Week for website 'Wink'...ahem. I haven't done a VLOG to date, who thinks this should be a regular feature? Or am I better off keeping my cake-hole shut!?

You can also see me being filmed looking like some loony who talks to herself in the BBC News coverage here, about 55 seconds in...

Happy watching, don't get square eyes though kids! x

London Fashion Week - Days 4 + 5 squashed together!

Greetings footwear fetishists, dress droolers,
bag bashers and jumper jizzers!
I have had to squash my coverage of days 4 and 5 into one post I'm afraid, I was too busy eating a lovely fish and chips supper and snuggling down with my gorgeous wife last night to post!  A bit of domesticity was a must for me after such a long day at 'the office' that we call fashion week, and as much as I like clothes, I like boobies more!

I was delighted to do an interview yesterday for Welsh TV show 'Y Lle Gwisgo' ('The Dressing Place' for all you non leek munchers!)  and got free reign to chat about all the stuff I like, so they get a thumbs up! Anyone in the mother country can watch that in October. Here is me and the shows presenter posing off camera and also a few sartorial snippets of other parts of the past two days...

Other highlights include pottering around the exhibition space and interviewing designers Lu Flux, Dr Noki, and Hermione de Paula for Meet The Designer. I love the exhibition space even more than the shows themselves to be honest, I prefer the more tactile experience of being able to see the clothes up close and to talk to the designers as if you were having a chat at the bus stop - nice and informal. Another talent to watch out for in my books is Kirsty Ward who combined clothes and jewellery in an office inspired collection of neon yellow, drawing pins, subtle cut outs and wet suit fabric; a jolly intelligent and charming lady she is too!

PR agency Felicities also hosted a nice showcase of their new talent with yummy green tea and grapefruit punch with rosemary infused lemon cake to munch on whilst inspecting the clothes! I'l post more on that at a later date. Danielle Scutt also showed on the BFC catwalk today and even though I thought the collection was slightly disjointed I did drool over the oversized glittery anoraks and iridescent pleated skirts...yum yum sparkly bum!

Perhaps my favourite thing about London fashion week is the fantastic street style showcased by the attendees, nothing inspires me more than the people I see pottering around, especially if they have a blue bowl cut, septum piercing and red horses perched on their shoulders like the chick below....

Tomorrow is Menswear Day, not sure what I'm up to yet, but make sure you tune in for your final fantasmical instalment of The Fashion Turd does Fashion Week. Love ya lots like polka dots! x
